The recipe uses the word “lauki” for bottle gourd. It also has a lot of ingredients–it’s good to use as many as you can, but if you’re missing anything, it’s probably okay to try it without it. I didn’t have garam masala powder so I left that out. I also left out the yogurt and a lot of the hot pepper–I think it would be a bit spicy if you followed the recipe exactly, so if you like that go for it!
