What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It’s a mutually beneficial system that gives farmers a reliable source of income early in the season, and gives customers discounted prices on fresh, seasonal produce, as well as the opportunity to be part of the farm community. The basic idea is that you pay for your produce in advance, and get a 15 to 20% discount on all the produce you get throughout the season, as well as weekly recipe ideas.

Green Zameen Farm has  several types of CSA shares available for the 2018 season. The share sizes and pickup options are explained below.

There are two sizes of share available:

Family Share: You pay $500, and get $600 worth of produce (This comes out to an average of $26/week, if you were to spend the same amount every week of the growing season, from mid May through October)

Individual Share: You pay $200, and get $230 worth of produce (average $10/week)

For either share size, you also have two options of how you receive your share. You can either get a pre-packed weekly box (called a Season’s Bounty share,) or you can spend the value of your share freely at one of our farmstands (Free Choice Share). Click here for details about each.

You can also choose between a regular share, which gives you a taste of everything we grow, and a salad/smoothie share. The salad/smoothie option is a new idea we’re trying this year, for all those who don’t have time to cook but still want to eat their vegetables. It will still contain a diverse mix of vegetables, but will be limited to ones that can be enjoyed raw.
